Introduction

Buggers, a 2D space-invaders type shoot em' up game, is DLS's first complete product. Featuring cute aliens, great music and 20 levels of non-stop shooting fun, where you must save Earth from hordes of alien invaders.

What's this all about?

Somewhere in the 21st century...

A large number of aliens have invaded Earth, ravaging major cities and scaring the hell out of all the good citizens of the planet.

You're the only hope for mankind. Armed with the best fighter Earth has got, your mission is to wipe out the buggers and destroy the alien mothership.

What do I need to play this game?

Basically most computers should be able to run Buggers without any problems. Here're some minimum requirements:

A Pentium or above using Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP
8 Mb RAM or above
Best with Sound Blaster compatible sound cards
About 2 Mbs of disk space

Simply unzip the file into any directory you want, then run bugger.exe to play the game! For further information on the game, please refer to readme.txt or the help section within the game!

People who have an older version can upgrade to version 1.99.1 by downloading the patch here (734Kb). Unzip the files to your Buggers directory, and choose 'yes' whenever you're asked about overwriting files.

Download Buggers High Score Editor

This is a handy tool for editing the highscore table without playing through the game, courtesy of James Bunting from Jbs Software. Just run the program, open up the highscore file (hiscore.dat) and do what you want with it! :) Thanks James.
The highest score I've seen so far is 388,280, achieved by TGO. (I might need a hiscore table here soon...)

Some gaming tips:

TIP #1: Never get too close with a flying enemy who often attacks while in fly mode.
TIP #2: With accuracy you can take out most saucers with one double-plasma shot.
TIP #3: Move around often, even when there are no bullets coming at you.
TIP #4: On level 19 (In front of the flagship hangars) you'll have plenty of chances to grab bonuses. You'll NEED this replenishment before going for the boss.

CHEATS:

Oooh boy. Cheats are cool when the buggers are too tough to handle. To activate cheat mode, hold down "B", "U", "G" and "Z" together during the game. You will now be able to use these keys:

"A" key: Adds one more life
"S" key: Gives you faster shots
"D" key: Gives you the double plasma pack
"R" key: Goes to the next level up to level 20.

Note: These cheats won't work in version 1.9.
